Is it a One Man Show?

If social media is all about engaging people and if I say that's my medium, then I need to engage and focus on that as my medium. It's a show, it's a one man show and I think my biggest mission is to make it all happen on my own, which, ironically, takes ALOT of coordination and cooperation with others.

What is an artist if not one that finds his own way to connect with other humans and done through which ever medium he chooses? Right? I choose to be on display and obsessively connect with others outside of my location but if they wanna visit, they can. We're all on show. What we do as artists, that's the show, that's the performance.

I keep thinking of Christo and Jean Claude who's work is not performance, per se, but the hoops they have to jump through, all the backend work.. the behind the scenes–this is the art. This work is the social engagement. It was naive for me to think, way back when, that art making was a solitary act.

If the work is arranging for sponsors and logistically mapping my tour, I must closely analyze what people want and just what a sponsor entails, that's what I'm doing. I'm looking at other artworld people and showcasing what they do too. All of this serves a purpose. This is not art for art's sake. This is complexity, this is maximalism.

I think more these days about theatre and cinema and viral marketing.

It's a one man show. I live in various locations for 1 or 2 weeks. I blog and stream and feature guest artfolk. I have sponsors that keep me mobile. I always loved David Letterman.
