excerpt about Artists & Marketers from 'Guerrilla Marketing ATTACK'

Opening paragraph from Chapter 4 'From an Art to a Science..

During the early days of marketing, which probably began when a farmer asked the local town crier to mention that he had some hogs for sale, marketing was primarily an art, though the unspoken truth is that it was a business. It pained many creative types to admit they were businessmen or businesswomen rather than the artists they viewed themselves as. They reveled in the idea that they were involved in an art. Today, the spoken truth is that marketing is a business. But many creative types still wince when they must own up to that truism.
