I think someone like Andy Kaufman made an art of his comedy by making the pattern beyond each piece itself and even beyond the genre of comedy. It was the kind of art that got a reaction "that's not funny."
In music Steven Reich got the reaction "that's not music" and in visual art Jackson Pollock got "that's not painting", so did Kandinsky. Not just "that's not good, but "that's not art."
And then there's Andy Warhol.
That's not art Andy.
